Health Plan and Plastic Surgery

Health plans do cover plastic surgeries, as long as they have a REPAIRING character.

Thus, they are covered by the plans:

– Post Bariatric Plastic Surgery (all procedures indicated by your plastic surgeon must be covered according to current understanding of the legislation)
– Nose Surgery – Rhinospetoplasty (Functional surgery of the nose)
– Correction of keloid/hypertrophic scar: after cesarean, abdominal surgery.
– Abdominal diastasis surgery (removal of abdominal muscles after pregnancies or weight loss)
– Surgery for correction of umbilical hernias after pregnancy
– Breast Surgery – when suspicious cysts or nodules appear.
– Breast reconstruction after breast cancer treatment
– Surgery for removal of skin cancer

In other words, all plastic surgeries with a restorative nature are covered by the health plan, in which case your doctor must prepare a report, attach your exams and submit the request with the health plan. This will be evaluated by the operator that will authorize the procedure.

In case the patient undergoes cosmetic surgery and, as a whole, it is up to the patient to pay the amount related to these procedures to the surgical team and the hospital. However, the total value always ends up being more affordable than doing it separately.

What is the advantage of using the health insurance in conjunction with cosmetic surgery? The first is to offer a complete treatment, that is, to correct form and function. The other advantage is financial, hospitals in general offer discounts on hospital stays for cosmetic surgeries associated with health insurance surgeries.
It is important to discuss all these aspects with your plastic surgeon during the consultation, so that the best treatment can be offered, focusing on form and function.

We work a lot with combined surgeries, associating repairs with aesthetic ones. We serve health plans, such as Bradesco, SulAmerica, Golden Cross, Omint, among others, through the medical reimbursement system, that is, we are not directly affiliated, but the patient can make their appointment or procedure if authorized, receive the invoice, and receive reimbursement under a specific contract with your health plan.
